Adding Stores in
ShopSite SC 5.0
for Windows 2000/NT Servers

Each ShopSite store on a server can have its own set of Back Office and Shopping Cart CGIs, or you can save disk space by having stores share CGIs.

To add a new store that shares CGIs with existing stores

  1. Obtain a store.auth file for the new store.
  2.

  3. Create a Windows user account for the ShopSite merchant.
  4.

  5. Run the ShopSite Setup program by double-clicking setup.exe.
  6.

  7. On the ShopSite Installation screen, select the existing installation to which you want to add the new store, then click Next.

  8. On the Change/Remove Options screen, select Add a store and then click Next.
  9.

  10. On the Auth File screen, type in the location of the auth file for the new store, or use the Browse button to locate it.
  11.

  12. If you have not already created the Windows user account for the merchant, click the Add User/Group button on the Administrative Tasks screen and do so now. When you have created the account and added it to the ShopSite group, click Next.
  13.

  14. The ShopSite Folders and URLs screen shows the location of the store's output and data folders. You can change either of the settings by double-clicking the component name.
  15.

  16. Enter the merchant's e-mail address on the E-Mail Settings Screen.
  17.

  18. Select the locale and currency for the new store.
  19.

  20. In the Configuration Options screen, leave the boxes checked to have the setup program set access permissions and create virtual directories. Uncheck either or both of the boxes if you are not using IIS as your web server, or if the setup program encounters an error when running, or if you want to do something unusual with directories and permissions. In any of those cases, you will have to set access permissions and create the virtual directories manually. You can follow the instructions for IIS 4 or IIS 5, but if you're using a different web server, you're on your own.
  21.

  22. Verify the settings that will be used to create the new store. If they are not correct, click the Back button and make changes on the appropriate screens. If they are correct, click the Next button, and the setup program will create the folders and files for the new store.
  23.

  24. When setup completes, you can click the option box to view the setup log when you exit the setup program. This will open your browser and display all of the settings used during the installation, which can be useful for your server records. Click Finish to exit the setup program.

To add a new store that does not share CGIs

  1. Obtain a store.auth file for the new store.
  2.

  3. Create a Windows user account for the ShopSite merchant.
  4.

  5. Run the ShopSite Setup program by double-clicking setup.exe.
  6.

  7. On the ShopSite Installation screen, click the Add button to create a new installation.

  8. On the Add ShopSite Install screen, click "Create a new ShopSite installation" and then click Next.

  9.

  10. Follow the instructions for a new installation, but specify a unique directory location for the ShopSite program files and a unique name for the installation.
