Introducing the ShopSite HTML EditorAn HTML Editor has been added to all service levels of ShopSite v.10. This makes it easy for merchants who aren't as familiar with HTML code to add style and visual elements to their content. The HTML Editor uses a visual editor and toolbars so merchants can easily add links, change font styles, adjust colors, and even insert images -- and see what they have done.
When done editing the text field, merchants just save their changes and the HTML editor will create the content in HTML. It is important to note that while the HTML Editor is a built-in feature of ShopSite version 10 software, it is not “on” by default. To enable the editor in the ShopSite back office, merchants can go to Utilities > HTML Editor, and select the "on" option for the "HTML Editor feature. Once They have done this and saved their changes, merchants will notice that a blue [ Editor ] button will appear from then on above the text fields that it can be used in. Did You Know That?
ShopSite and PCI ComplianceShopSite version 10 has been audited and certified to be in compliance with the PABP (Payment Application Best Practices)/PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) requirements. What do we mean by that? Companies like American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc. International, all came together to create the PCI Security Standards Council. That council came up with "a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security."(About the PCI Data Security Standard) To be certified as PCI compliant is not an easy thing. Companies who wish to pass this certification must undergo a rigorous auditing process, which ShopSite has done. It is still up to you as the merchant to ensure that you are handling credit card and other sensitive information in the most secure way possible. More information can be found at the following URL:
Merchant TipQuestion: How can I have the ShopSite order option pull-down menus appear on the pages of my site when using the OrderAnywhere Linker to add "buy now" buttons to my site? ![]() Answer: Start by creating the ordering option pull-down menus in ShopSite (Products > Edit Product Info). Next, make sure that each product has the "display ordering options" box (found under Products > Edit Product Layout) checked. That way, when you go to the OrderAnywhere Linker (found under Merchandising > OrderAnywhere) and click on "Show Selected Links" or "Show Selected HTML" you will see the pull-down menu or HTML form for those ordering options along with those for the add to cart/view cart buttons. Make sure to copy and paste all of the links or HTML into your website. Once you have done that, if a customer selects a product option while on your store pages and clicks "add to cart," it will carry over to the shopping cart. ![]() Video tutorials on creating product ordering option pull-down menus and ShopSite's OrderAnywhere Linker can be found at the following URLs:
The Support Queue 1Question: Will my ShopSite's integration with PayPal Payflow Pro (previously VeriSign Payflow Pro) continue to work after they end support for connections to their payment gateway service via their V2 and V3 SDK's on September 1st, 2009? Does this affect my ShopSite? Answer: Many ShopSite merchants using PayPal Payflow Pro have recently received a notice from PayPal stating that on September 1st, 2009 support for connections to their payment gateway via their Payflow Pro 2.x, 3.x, 4.0x, and 4.1x SDK interfaces will end, and that all future interactions with the Payflow Pro payment gateway should be transacted using their 4.3 or higher SDK or use their direct HTTPS Interface. ShopSite v10 and newer already uses PayPal Payflow Pro's direct HTTPS Interface, so all ShopSite stores v10 and newer that are configured to use the PayPal Payflow Pro gateway should experience no interruption of Payflow Pro service due to this discontinuation. ShopSite v9.x and older use the Payflow Pro v2 SDK, so Payflow Pro credit card processing will cease to work in these versions on September 1st, 2009. If you are using ShopSite v9.x and older and using (or plan to use) the PayPal Payflow Pro payment gateway in your ShopSite, please contact your ShopSite reseller ASAP regarding upgrading your ShopSite to v10 or newer so that your PayPal Payflow Pro service through ShopSite will not be interrupted when the Payflow Pro v2 SDK service is ended by PayPal on September 1st, 2009. The Support Queue 2Question: I have ShopSite v10 r7.1 or earlier with Google Checkout enabled, and shoppers who click the Google Checkout button in the shopping cart are experiencing a long delay (or even a timeout) before reaching the Google Checkout screens. What can be done to fix this?" Answer: The Google Checkout delay was fixed in latest group of patches. A group of patches for ShopSite v10 r7 is now available for Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris SPARC, and Windows 2000/2003 Server operating systems. If you have an earlier version of ShopSite v10, please upgrade to ShopSite v10 r7 before applying these patches. These patch files replace the previous v10 r7 patch files and also contain all of those fixes, which are listed in ShopSite Knowledgebase article 2516 (http://support.shopsite.com/KBase/questions/2516). Once these patches have been applied, the version number displayed in your ShopSite backoffice will be v10 r7.2. More information on these patches and all the issues they address can be found at the following URL: http://support.shopsite.com/KBase/questions/2519 Designer TipQuestion: I have the basic layout for my store with a header, footer and left navigation; is there a quick way to turn this design into a custom template.
