Customize the Awesome Template - Add Your Own Links to the Left Navigation Bar

The Awesome theme includes a large header area, with a left navigation bar. The links in the left navigation bar for pages are the links which are assigned to that page. On most other pages, the more information pages, gift certificate page and the search result pages have a "home" link and a "back" link. If you would like to add your own links to the left navigation bar so that all of these pages have the same navigation, you would do this by following the steps below.

1.   Copy the Awesome theme files. Below are a list of files that you would need to copy in your store.

• awesome_orange_001_pa_template.sst - this is the Awesome page template.
  (Merchandising > Custom Templates > Page/Product > Copy ShopSite Template)
• awesome_orange_001_pr_template.sst - this is the Awesome product template.
  (Merchandising > Custom Templates > Page/Product > Copy ShopSite Template)
• awesome_orange_001_se_template.sst - this is the Awesome search template.
  (Merchandising > Custom Templates > Advanced > Copy ShopSite Template)
• awesome_orange_001_gc_template.sst - this is the Awesome gift certificate template.
  (Merchandising > Custom Templates > Advanced > Copy ShopSite Template)

2.   Locate the IF ShopSite customer registration tag, [-- IF SC_Registration --]. Within all of these templates and template files locate the ShopSite tag, [-- IF SC_Registration --]. This tag will end with an [-- END_IF --] tag. This entire section looks like:

3.   Add your own links below the section in step 2. Add your own links using the format below. Add your links below the section you found in step 2.

4.   Copy YOUR copy and name it the EXACT same as the original. Once you have finished making modifications, you can copy your copied templates and give them the exact same name as the originals. If you do this, your new templates will override the original templates. Once your file names override the originals, you can use the Awesome theme and it will read your new files and display your new links.

5.   Publish. To publish your store with the modified files and new links you can go to Utilities > Publish > Regenerate.
